NFL Week 1 Picks

What makes an NFL writer? Nowadays, it’s picking games. Thus, to make it a matter of public record, and to expose myself (please, there are ladies present) to public ridicule, I’m going to make a record of my picks. I’ll just go straight-up winners this time. If you pick against the spread there’s always someone who argues that sportsbookmongolia.com had the Cardinals at 12 points, not 9, and I don’t want to hear that nonsense.

New England over Indianapolis – Pats continue their dominance over the Colts.
Tennessee over Miami – Moving this game early or to the moon, the Dolphins aren’t good.
Baltimore over Cleveland – I’ll believe the Browns have an offense when I see one.
St. Louis over Arizona – Green’s debut spoiled by Rams passing attack, but a close game.
Chicago over Detroit – I know the Lions are a popular pick, but the road woes continue.
Houston over San Diego – Chargers in disarray and the Texans are moving up.
Seattle over New Orleans – Seahawks might go Super Bowl – Saints ain’t going anywhere.
Pittsburgh over Oakland – A close game, but I’ll take the home team here. No reason.
Tampa Bay over Washington – I think Gruden’s oldies will spoil Joe Gibbs’ return to DC.
Buffalo over Jacksonville – Two good running backs for the Bills share time in the win.
NY Jets over Cincinnati – Bengals the trendy pick, but Jets are different with Pennington.
San Francisco over Atlanta – The 49ers stink and get one of their only 2004 wins here.
Minnesota over Dallas – Vikings poised for another 6-0 start, begin it over Cowboys.
Philadelphia over NY Giants – Eagles are going places and Owens wants to debut strong.
Kansas City over Denver – I’m not impressed with Denver’s O, haven’t seen their D.
Carolina over Green Bay – Panthers rebound from Super Bowl loss against a shaky defense.

There you be – 16 games. Hopefully 16 winners.
Summary: NE, TEN, BAL, STL, CHI, HOU, SEA, PIT, TB, BUF, NYJ, SF, MIN, PHI, KC, CAR
