The article says
“This is an exciting development that will stabilize the current conferences and create the first truly national conference with members in five time zones and television viewership from coast to coast.”
That’s hilarious – I didn’t know they let circus clowns write press releases.
• It’s not exciting.
• It’s stabilizes nothing
• It’s isn’t the first national conference.
• The only viewership ESPN cares about is NY, LA and the 18-35 demo.
You can bet Hawaii is looking forward to their road conference games in Alabama and Mississippi.
They are doing it to hold a title game (for tv and cash and football is the only sport they care about) and to pretend the big conferences will now treat them with respect, which they will not. This is subtraction by addition, making yourself look worse by combining with a bunch of other neglected schools. This is the same as a 98-pound weakling who gets the crap beat out of him at school forming a gang with 9 other weaklings, as if that will make them a threat against the wrestling team.
They did this already when the WAC went to 16 teams. This is the same bad idea, only spread out over a wider area, so that the stupid can infiltrate more of America.
